Tips for Making Iced Coffee

!±8± Tips for Making Iced Coffee

We nearly all agree that coffee is a great drink for many moments of the day. But, it is also known that a cup of hot coffee is not really the best choice when the heat of summer comes. How can you get the great coffee flavor (and caffeine!) without the heat? Iced coffee!

Iced coffees are fantastic for refreshing and re-energizing yourself during the hot period of summer. You can find good iced coffee at coffee shops and cafes. But when it comes to getting an iced coffee at home, some of you may have problems. In this article, I will offer you some of my tips to help you make an iced coffee at home, without breaking a sweat!

First, you need to have some ice. How can you have iced coffee without the ice component? You actually have options: you can either freeze water traditionally (such as with ice cube trays), or you can freeze several brews of coffee instead of water in your ice cube trays. The latter option, when combined with the freshly brewed coffee (discussed next), will not water the drink down like water ice can do.

Secondly, you must brew the coffee. You can simply brew your preferred coffee variety. You can use a regular drip brewer, instant coffee or the a single serve pot such as a Keurig, which makes a single cup of coffee.

If you choose the single serve option, you can often have a cup brewed in less than a minute, by popping one of those K Cup packs in the machine, after which you have to simply press the brew button. You may, in this way, brew many cups and getting different flavors. You can then put the coffee over the cubes of coffee (discussed next) and obtain a perfect iced coffee.

The third step is mixing. After pouring the freshly brewed coffee on the frozen cubes (of water or coffee), you can choose to drink it straight, but you could also add a splash of flavoring. Popular flavoring options include some drops of vanilla or some Italian syrups. However, there are quite a wide variety of other flavorings available, including more exotic options like peach, raspberry, guava and mango.

You'll find that there is no 'wrong' way to make iced coffee, and the number of variations possible is only limited by your imagination. So, be creative, have some fun, and find your favorite recipe for iced coffee!
